The KBN Committee was established in 1952. Since this year KBN main issues were related to:
- basis of the design and construction (including mechatronics),
- technology basis (processing, structure, joining, surface layer),
- operation basis (including tribology),
- the theory of machines and mechanisms (including robotics),
- the problems of micro-and nanotechnology.
